YOYO DOCS

YOYO Docs - Project 12 – 4groups R out launch

During the last four months of 2012 we printed a hundred postcards with the same image as can be seen on our website. All that was printed on the postcards were the site address, a username and a password. We sent them to producers, record labels, artists and music venture corporations. And by doing so we made contact with a great producer in California. We also left a few postcards at airports in Germany and the UK. When we ran out of postcards, we printed 250 business cards that went out to other music industry corporations, but with a letter that explained a little bit about this project. We also distributed these business cards with the help of friends who were travelling. Business cards were put on coffee shop tables, in hotel lobbies and at airports in Europe, Africa, and South and North America. A friend studying art in Iceland took a bunch of business cards to give to artist colleagues there.

In December we decided to launch one song, IRL, on youtube to make us more accessible to people who might be put off by our mysterious homepage. (You’ll get to it by clicking the camera down at the left on this site – if you haven’t done that already.) Then we started sending emails to TV stations and radio stations all over the world in order to get some attention. Our m4a file of IRL was first delivered to a local radio show in Kentucky, USA and then to Kansas, New York, Florida and South Africa. We also emailed more people in the industry and made contact with a great producer in London. We sent emails to art magazines and got publicity on one website.

We’re writing this in March 2013 and at the moment we have about 25 new songs waiting to be heard. Hopefully IRL could achieve some kind of popularity and thereby raise some interest and money so that we can get started for real. Project 12 is concluded with the album ’4groups R out’ and we’re doing project 13 now – ’What goes down must come up!’
