It was, as usual, a blast to talk to David and Jon about our music. In case you’ve missed it, the podcast is here. The conversation is a bit about different creative processes and the latest single “Squeezing”. The single has been on several web radio stations and others as well, but we’re having a hard time keeping track of things like that these days. Our time is focused on new things to do and how to develop our music, posts and lyric videos ahead.

The title for the upcoming release is “Human Intelligence” and we’ve decided on the cover art. Two really smart guys being eroded by digital tools. The songs that we’re working on are created by us, without AI, and most of the instruments are real instruments played live. There might be some digital drums and strings, or similar, but no AI involving the music we make, just old school midi techniques. We’re not, however, opponents to AI, it will probably become a useful tool for us too in the future, but so far we feel good enough as we are.

There is one part of the things we do where we are exploring AI tools and that’s our lyric videos. During the first years, we spent more time and put more effort in our lyric videos than we have done during the latest years. It’s not so much lack of creativity than it is means of realizing the visual ideas that we have for our songs.

Now, our web guy has made a tool that we’ve tried out for the lyric video of our song “Get Real” on the latest album “Pearls”. This tool makes it easy for us to create catchy, fun and interesting lyric videos further on, so there will be more of that. We can simply write scenarios and the tool creates something from that. In this first test we actually just sent the song and two pictures, some background information and let the tool work. Made a few corrections of some words that the tool got wrong and also wrote some instructions for altering some of the animations that the tool made on it’s first attempt – and that was it. We’ll publish this one on our YouTube channel in November.

This does not mean that we won’t make simple, old school, lyric videos as well. We have a number of them, already made waiting to be published, and sometimes a good idea for a lyric video will be more interesting and fascinating than AI-animated stuff.

One of those lyric videos was made last fall, for the song “As the line is drawn” that will be on the upcoming release “Human Intelligence”. We usually have a special lyric video on December 24, so this year the plan is that you’ll get to see the wolf and the pig again. It’s been too long since they were in our lyric videos.

Now, it’s back to doing some more voices for songs on the upcoming release. You can check our social media and YouTube for updates and we will get back here at some point too. The annual Christmas craze is about to start, so don’t forget our Christmas single!!! Radio stations that still doesn’t have it are welcome to get in touch. We will get back as soon as we can find time. Don’t forget to check out Eliza Lynn that is working on an album to be released next year. The song “Help Me Be Kind”, that we wrote together, will be on it. Thanks for dropping by and taking your time to read this.
